Data gathering & insights
Our data warehouse helps everyone in the sector make informed decisions
We’ve built one of Canada’s most comprehensive homelessness data warehouses, working with our partners to track pathways, identify trends, and forecast challenges before they become crises.

Revealing the full picture of homelessness in Calgary
Our community-informed data warehouse integrates multiple quantitative and qualitative data sources to create a network of information difficult to replicate. In fact, Calgary is one of the first communities in Canada with this level of visibility into system performance. This enables us to track individual pathways through the system over time, forecast emerging trends, and assess program effectiveness—providing evidence-based guidance that informs decisions across the entire sector.
When we share data with our partners, the system performs better
Homelessness is often a complex challenge—with multiple pathways into homelessness and many stakeholders working to support people experiencing it. This requires a collaborative effort, and our shared data helps coordinate that response across the entire sector. It’s also what enables us to be a trusted advisor to agencies and governments alike.

Data-driven innovation and innovation-driven data
Our data and culture of learning and evaluation drive innovations like MAGE, our geo-tracking app transforming encampment response, and our Coordinated Entry Tool (CET), which streamlines assessment and referrals for people experiencing homelessness. These types of tools then generate new data streams that flow back into our comprehensive data warehouse. This continuous cycle of data-driven innovation and innovation-driven data makes us increasingly effective at supporting agencies and governments in the fight against homelessness.
Understanding what creates lasting pathways out of homelessness
The ultimate goal in addressing homelessness is understanding exactly which programs and interventions truly create lasting change for people. Our work with programs on Theory of Change is helping us unlock these insights by mapping expected outcomes across four key domains of recovery: physical and mental health, financial stability, connection to community, and housing. If we can understand what truly works, everyone benefits—governments can use resources more effectively, agencies can focus their efforts on the most impactful approaches, and people experiencing homelessness receive the support that will help them find their way home.

How we support frontline agencies
Through strategic partnerships, we help maximize the impact of our collective resources and create lasting pathways out of homelessness for Calgarians. We work with agencies to create consistency in approaches and make it easier to navigate the system for clients.

How we strengthen the sector through innovation and evidence
We drive system-wide improvements through cutting-edge technology, comprehensive training programs, and ongoing evaluations. By strengthening cross-agency coordination and capacity and promoting data-driven decisions across the sector, we ensure our community’s response grows as our city does.
